About me

Tomtree is the website of the journalist Tom Levitt, formerly deputy editor at the Ecologist magazine and now a journalist at the Guardian.

I specialise in food, environment and anything outdoors. My journalism has featured on CNN, chinadialogue, Country Life, the Earth Island Journal, Farmers Guardian, the Financial Times, the Guardian, the Independent, the Sustainable Food Trust and Resurgence magazine.

I’ve produced programmes for Farm Radio, been a chair for Guardian events and a guest on BBC Radio. I have also completed an MSc in Food Policy at City University and am a member of the Food Climate Research Network.

After rowing the River Thames, crossing the English Channel and swimming 10k down the River Dart, I am also always keen to hear about new sporting challenges. Get in touch. This year I am doing a swimrun in the Isles of Scilly.
